development series focuses on effective teaching strategies that incorporate technology to promote interactive student learning. All sessions - designed by educators for educators - are grounded in a strong foundation of education research and collaboration and are customized to fit the needs of participants.

Core Training
Teachers will learn the basics of SMART Notebook™ software, including how to use the tools on the toolbar,
what the side tabs access, how to work with objects on the page, and how to use SMART Exchange.
This training gives teachers the fundamental skills needed for all other SMART training sessions.
This course is a continuation of SMART Starter and covers the advanced features of SMART Notebook™, including linking, embedding sound, embedding video, and recording.

Teachers will learn the basics of using SMART Response™, including setup, creating questions, delivering assessments, and evaluating assessments.

Additional Training
Designed for district and school technical support staff, this course gives an overview of SMART
products and answers frequently asked questions about hardware and software. Basic troubleshooting steps and
common problems will be addressed as well as resources to find help when needed.
SMART Table
Prerequisite: SMART Starter
This session covers how to use the SMART Table™ Toolkit to download existing activities and create
custom activities for SMART Table.

SMART Peripherals
Document Camera, Slate, Classroom Suite, Sync
Prerequisite: SMART Starter
Teachers will receive training on how to use other SMART products, including SMART Document
Camera, SMART Slate™, SMART Classroom Suite™, and SMART Sync™.
This session will cover features, customization,
and best practices for each of these products.

Core Professional Development
This session provides the foundation for the more advanced
professional development workshops. Teachers will learn how to create and organize high-quality lessons for their
classrooms. Teachers should have access to a computer for hands-on activities.

Embedding Differentiation
Prerequisite: Best Practices for
Digital Content Creation
This workshop gives teachers strategies for providing differentiation in their lessons.
This includes strategies for multiple intelligences and ability levels as well as special needs students. Teachers should
have access to a computer for hands-on activities.

This workshop discusses the spectrum of interactivity and gives teachers strategies to
create more interactive content. Teachers should have access to a computer for hands-on activities.

Assessment
Prerequisites: SMART Response and

Teachers will learn how to use their Response™ clickers as a formative assessment tool to engage
students and gather necessary data to measure student progress. Teachers will also learn how to use Response for
higher order thinking skills and more unique types of questioning.

Teachers working together in their schools or in Professional Learning Communities
(PLCs) will learn how to use their collaboration time to maximize student learning.

An Education Consultant (EC) works one-on-one
with the teacher to prepare and deliver
a lesson in class, then provides feedback and suggestions
for growth. The EC can model the lesson,
observe the teacher, or both.
There are no prerequisites; however, the benefits
to the participant are increased with previous training
and professional development.
